Things I Love Thursdays

Board Games In The Bar -
Tonight is our first social night with the new members of our archery club and we thought it might be a good idea to reserve some table in one of the bars in college and bring in plenty of board games. Which games do you love the most? I was a total Connect 4 and Guess Who girl.

Damon Salvatore - I know that The Vampire Diaries is just Dawsons Creak with fangs, and True Blood with more clothes but that doesn't make the character of Damon Salvatore any less appealing. He is my bad boy of choice at the moment.

Honourable Mentions -
thick, creamy mushroom soup, projects finished and accepted, arm warmers, friends who let you coerce them into helping with research, pink Ballygowan bottles

City Of The Tribes

source

I shall be away in Galway city all day Wednesday for some research. Not exactly the most glamorous ways to spend a day in the City of the Tribes but I'll take my breaks where ever I can get them and just be thrilled that I'm out of the office for a day.

Are you feeling a little cabin fever? Craving the great outdoors or an open road?

The Obligatory Blogger Bag Post

So does this make Irish weather beautiful and special? We get sun and rain together. A brolly and shades have been my must have's in my handbag for the last week.

So here's the rest of the contents of my day to day handbag -

- Bag from River Island
- Huge purse to hold lots and lots of stuff, gift from my mum
- A bag of useful*
- My Filofax
- Large bunch of keys
- mp3 player, gift from Fredrick and Doogle
- Dictaphone
- Silver ring from Pennys
- Arm warmers from Pennys
- Red Bull shot
- Sunglasses from Pennys
- My brolly is missing from the shot cause it's drying on the floor (it rained this morning)
- My phone is also missing cause I used it to take the photo (sorry about the lighting). It's a Sony Ericsson W995.

I often wonder if you can really tell anything about someone from the contents of their bag. I always love looking at other blogger's posts about their bags and try to see if their stuff gives me an idea as to the kind of person they are.

Go on - have a go. What does my bag say about me?

* A bag of useful is a wonderful thing to have. It stops all the random stuff causing a mess in the bottom of your bag. It comes to the rescue for many an occasion. It has all sorts of things like plasters, nail files, pain killers, hair ties and clips, cleaning cloths for my glasses, a small mirror, a small scissors, tweezers, nail polish, mascara, concealer, lip gloss, sports tape and padding, safety pins, you get the idea...

Monday Morning Meet Up

source

Hey guys, I hope you all had a great weekend.

I spent most of it in the office in college trying to get a research project finished but got to go outside to shoot all afternoon Sunday. Absolute bliss, great company in the field and a good training session to boot (for those of you who don't already know I am a passionate archer). The only grrr of the whole weekend was that niggly feeling in my chest as I was going to sleep last night that turned into a full blown 'who thought it would be a good plan to clean out my lungs with a brillo pad' feeling this morning. So I am going to go wrap up in a nice big scarf and nurse a steaming mug of something hot for the next little while. So here's a great new video from Ok Go to keep you amused.

Ok Go - White Knuckles

What did you get up to? I'd love to hear about it.

Pretty Girl Friday

Kate Beckinsale is just so, so heartbreakingly beautiful that I just couldn't leave her out of PGF. I've loved her ever since I watched Serendipity, and Underworld and Van Helsing just nailed it for me. Although I must admit I spent more time watching Hugh Jackman than Kate in Van Helsing.

Enjoy your weekend my lovelies and I will see you all bright eyed and bushy tailed next week.

Things I Love Thursday

Sea Salt - Flavour ice cream from Murphys, served with a scoop of burnt caramel. It's like summer in a tub. Do you remember what ice cream at the beach tastes like when you're a child, all salty cause you were out swimming and now when you lick your lips you taste all that salt... just like that.

Food - More specifically... being treated to lunch by S cause she's back in Limerick for the day. Love you S!

Honourable Mentions - this tutorial from How About Orange on how to make gift bags from ordinary envelopes, the rush you get from a good nights training, Electric Picnic photos up on Facebook from everyone who got to go this year, liking the taste of water again, Barbie jewellry

Wakey Wakey

And a good morning to you all too. What's gonna make today special for you?

I'm gonna make great headway through my project work today, tackle budget meetings with ease and treat myself to a great coffee and a pastry this afternoon.

Love Love Love

Keep your eyes on this one. She's gonna be huge. She's already collaborated with Jeff Beck and performed on the Grammys.

The video above is for 'Mayhem', her first single from her new album by the same name. I highly recommend you jump on the rockabilly bandwagon before it gets even bigger.

Pretty Girl Friday

Lisa Edelstein.

First remembered for her role in Ally McBeal and now for role in House.

All because Mike asked me to put her up for today's PGF.

The Cutest Thing In The World

Adele set up Mila's Daydreams as a hobby while on maternity leave. It's one of the cutest things that I have ever seen. The bookworm shot has to be my favourite of all.

Things I Love Thursday

Long Hot Showers - So when S moved out a few weeks ago (I know! I'm still not over it) I moved up in the world and into her master bedroom with en suite. An en suite with an electric shower - score. No more waiting for the immersion to heat (I don't know if non-Irish people even use an immersion but if you do you know my pain), no more being careful not to stay in the shower too long and using up all the hot water, no more waking up half an hour before you want a shower in the morning. I am the queen of squeeky clean, the diva of my own bathroom, I can sing as many songs in that shower as I want with no fear of being left with a head full of conditioner and no hot water to wash it out.

Thumping Bass - One of the things about the hoards of students being back in college this month is the fact that the DJ society has taken up permanence residence in the Courtyard and all throughout lunch you have 'choons' thumping around college. How can you feel miserable with a little bass in your step? You can't.

Thinking about Winter - Thick tights, hot water bottles, fires in the sitting room, big scarves, mittens, being snowed in, cold nights in a warm pub. You all might be talking about how great Autumn is, but here, in Ireland, it lasts about 3 weeks before Winter kicks in. Dressing for Autumn is a tricky business here, layers that you put on and take off all day long. Sunglasses and an umbrella, coat with a vest top underneath... sheesh. Give me Winter any day.

Honourary Mentions - boys who make biscuit cake, writing with orange and purple pens, hot Ribena, pretty green dresses, 'to do' lists in my pretty new Filofax, this dress, these boots

Wednesday Wishes

source

This is a bit of a cop out wish today, a little bit cliched, but I wish for the time to appreciate what I have. Time to sit in a cafe or curled up in an armchair and really think of how many good things are in my life and how much I really appreciate it all.

What are you wishing for today my lovelies?
