Pretty Girl Friday

Kat Von D is one of my all time favourite pretty girls.

Just look at her - she's stunning!

Kat is involved with Sephora and these photos were taken as promos for her range of fragrances and make up.

But....

Have you ever wondered what Kat would look like without all the tats?

Just look below...

Bobo Puppyhead Comics

The majority of my data for my thesis has just landed on my lap and I'm sorry to say that the posts will be very short and sweet for a week or two.

So to keep the loving thoughts out in the blogsphere here is a great, simple cartoon from Dan Wheeler.

A Morning Routine

source

What's your morning routine?

Do you like to crank up the stereo and dance around your room while you get dressed, or do you like to sit and enjoy a quiet cup of tea before heading out into the world, or do you throw on whatever clothes you can find and rush out the door at the last minute?

Most mornings I hit the snooze button at least once before getting up and dragging myself into the shower. By the time I have my hair washed I have figured out what kind of humour I'm in, and by the time I'm drying off I usually have figured out the majority of my outfit for the day.

Back into my rather messy and stuffy room and I open the curtains and window to let in a little fresh air (one of the downfalls of having a room that faces the sun in the morning* ) and start hunting in my overflowing wardrobe for whatever items I need to get dressed. Once dressed I blow dry my hair if I'm leaving it down, if I'm pinning it up I leave it damp (I'm lazy about my hair most days), put on a little make-up, sometimes foundation, sometimes eye shadow, sometimes blush, always mascara and lip balm, rummage in the wardrobe for a bag to match my outfit and transfer the contents of yesterdays bag into it. I rarely leave the house without some form of jewelry on.

I head downstairs to see who else is awake in the house and to see if anyone wants to car pool into college (it's easier to get parking if you car pool). I usually forget about having breakfast at home but sometimes remember to throw a cereal bar or yogurt or apple into my bag, I fill up a travel mug with coffee and I'm out the door doing a mental checklist of purse - keys - phone.

Isn't it amazing how habits form? What morning habits are ingrained in you?

* my housemate just reminded me that my room doesn't face the sun in the morning... doh

Why I Love Gingers

Can you close your eyes and image something for me? Please?

Imagine finding a brownie that thinks that it is a truffle. A brownie that is so dense and fudgy that you have to lick your fingers after just touching it. Can you imagine that? Can you smell the overpowering scent of dark chocolate and butter and sugar? A brownie that you would carry wrapped carefully in your hand because you know that to put it into your bag would destroy it's delicate state of being.

Well today I found that brownie.

We are lucky enough here in UL to have a farmers market on campus every Tuesday. All sorts of stands fill the courtyard with fruit and veg, preservatives, chocolate goods, baked goods, cheeses, organic meats, sushi and other delights. And today I approached the gingergirl stand. I had spotted a jar of rhubarb jam, and my dad absolutely adores rhubarb jam, and seeing that this Sunday is Fathers Day I thought that I would get him a jar. As I was standing at the stall and listening to the owner,Helen, banter with some customers about the variety of Northern Irish accents between them I spied a cake stand ladened with brownies and I heard a little voice in my head. 'Ah go on Maggie, you deserve a treat today. You can be good tomorrow' and of course I believed that voice.

All I can say is 'wow', what a brownie. It takes a brownie like that to make me understand why REAL brownies are served in small portions. Of course I thought on the way back to the office that I would just have a little nibble now and save some for later on. Not a chance. That brownie tasted of more! I had the best of intentions of photographing it for the post, sitting in it's shroud of greaseproof paper, all sticky and chocolaty and made of nom but alas, in the words of my 4 year old self, 'I eated it'.

Gingergirl - I will see you next week.

Yesterday I had to take off my beautiful grey suede booties and put on the pair of slippers that I keep hidden under my desk. They are black with little hot pink skulls all over them.

Shhh...

Girl Crush

source unknown

Is it just me or does Rachel Bilson always look casual and amazing. How someone can just throw on some jeans, sandals and a scarf and look so fantastic just baffles me.

Note to self - learn to do casual, the Bilson way.

Did Ya Ever...

source

...get a day when all you wanted to do is find someone to curl up with?

One of those days when being single really isn't all it's cracked up to be, when all you want is someone to wrap their arms around you and hold on tight, when you know that the one simple thing that can lift you out of your rut is a little human contact, when you know that putting on a great dress and sexy heels and heading out for a night on the town could never possibly result in the kind of contact that you really need and that you would probably be back to square one again tomorrow.

Today is one of those days.

A Picture Speaks...

Happy June Bank Holiday Weekend to all of my Irish readers.

We finally have some sunshine and now we get some time off to enjoy it. Myself, Fredrick and Philmire are heading up the country to Meath to help out with an archery fair for a few days. Days spent teaching little, and sometimes not so little, kids how to shoot, fetching tea for Mr D and helping out where ever we can and nights of barbecues and sitting around the fire pit talking rubbish.

Bliss.

What are your plans this weekend?

Things I Love Thursday

All Things Nautical - Todays outfit is a pair of navy shorts with gold buttons worn with denim and white striped wedges. All I need now is a navy and white striped cardi and I'm all set to go. What is it about sunshine and wanting to dress like a sailor?

Iced Coffee - And sunny days obviously call out for a refreshing cold drink! Now I'm not talking about one of those over sugared, over priced cream concoctions that you can buy from a coffee outlet, I'm talking about a simple latte served over ice. Heaven.

Fredrick Back in Limerick - It's going to be short lived as he is heading back to the Big Shmoke soon but it really is great to have him around again. :) Just don't tell him I said that.

Honourable Mentions - funfairs, nude nail polish, Oreo McFlurrys, floral scarves, going to the beach, cream eggs for 20c in Superquinn, Mr. Power not visiting me (anti TiLT)

*Update - On reading this TiLT Mr. Power decided to prove me wrong and is currently on his way to Limerick, from Cork, for some tea.
